Defending my title at the Los angeles Triathlon in 2002. A very satisfying race win for me for many reasons.

Winning my 4th title at Escape from Alcatraz in one of the toughest years of the event. The current in the swim was super strong in 2002 and the wind was howling on the bike. I managed to catch Greg Bennett and remain undefeated at Escape. I dedicated this win to my best friend Sean Maroney who passed away 2 days earlier.

Running with Craig Walton at the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon in 2002. This was an event I absolutely loved and won a record 4 times. My favourite short course race in the world in my favourite US city.

Winning Ironman on debut was sweet. A great day but very tough on the body. I was absolutely gone after this race. These Ironmans are tough.

Winning my first Ironman on debut in Australia. after 12 years of domination of the australian event by non aussies, it was great to finally put an Australian name back on the winners trophy. My first ever Ironman, I won from Olivier Bernhard of Switzerland and Jason Shortis of Australia. Thomas Hellriegal and Peter Reid were also in the mix. It was a loaded Ironman and a great day.

The freezing day in Gamagori Japan, for the ITU World cup event in 1999. After all the rain, sleet and wind I won the race from Craig Watson of New Zealand and Reto Hug from Switzerland.

The ITU World Cup race in Gamagori Japan was an event I won 3 times. Japan was a favourite stop of mine on the ITU World Cup circuit and I won a total of 5 world cup wins in Japan. Gamagori was a great race. This event I outsprinted Matty Reed after we broke away on the bike.

Winning the ITU World Cup race in Ishigaki Japan, April 1997. This event is still on the ITU World cup circuit and an event I won 2 times.

Winning the ITU Triathlon World title and also wrapping up the ITU World Cup series. Macca still remains the only athlete in history to hold both titles simultaneously and be truely recognised as the Undisputed World number 1.

Winning the ITU World Championship race in Perth Australia on November 17, 1997. One of my sweetest triathlon wins infront of my entire family and more than 70 000 crazy Aussie fans. A great day!

The swim start at the Monaco event is one of the most scenic in the world.
Christoph Sauser, Paulo Bettini and myself in California for a photoshoot for Specialized. This is February 2008.
