Winning IM Australia 5 times

As a third party observer I may stress that Chris' posts are getting shorter and shorter the more often he winns this race. Read the excerpts from his archives below.

The victory still feels great

Well, Ironman is behind me now and i was happy to defend my Ironman crown. Being a three time winner of the race is very humbling as it puts me in very elite company. Pauli Kiuri and Peter Reid are two guys i watched when i was younger and I went up to the race as a spectator in Forster. They are two athletes i admire immensly, so being a multiple winner with these two guys is great.

In his post from 2003 very enthusiastic

The race was just fantastic

I had a fantastic race today. Everything went smoothly and I ended up with the result I was after. I woke up in the morning and the weather was pretty miserable.

The wind was up and the rain looked to be settling in on the back section of the bike course so I know it was going to be one of those uncomfortable days in the saddle.

To come through the finish line again and win my second Ironman was a buzz. This is such a great race and to defend is fantastic.
What is more positive for me is the time. I went 8.19.14 and did it very easily. I ran a 2.51 marathon but really enjoyed the last couple of Kilometres. I walked the finish shoot again which was just incredible.
I was so happy with the entire day. It was not just the fact that I won the race, but that the foundation has been laid for my main goal which is Hawaii Ironman success. I really did this race very easy and am excited about the prospects of Hawaii. With a little more work things could go well this year. My marathon is improving rapidly and more importantly my Ironman confidence is high.

Mission accomplished – preparing for the season

For me the race went pretty well. I felt comfortable all day but suffered a little from cramps in the last 10km of the run. Overall though it was great to defend my title and equal the record of wins at my Ironman.
My recovery feels pretty good at the moment and I am looking forward to getting back on the bike and starting training again at the end of this week.

Downtime after historic 5th IRONMAN win

Wellthen, the Ironman has been run and won and I really enjoyed the new course and the Australian Ironman again. I had a very comfortable win this year and it was one of those days when everything feels easy.
