Training in Kona

More of the Same

September 05, 2009

Well its been three days since my last blog and not much has changed here in Kona. We have really ramped up the volume of our training and put together some serious work over the last 3-4 days. It has been unreal. Terenzo is feeling much better and Tim Marr has got his form back so we have smashed out almost 300 miles in riding and 60 miles in running these last 4 days.  The wind and heat have been up here in Kona aswell, so we are pretty tired.

Catching Up - Kona Camp

September 01, 2009

Well the last few weeks have been hectic. Terenzo Bozzone hooked up with me in Sydney in Mid August and we began doing some training together before heading off to camp in Kona. We flew through the philippines on the way to compete in the inaugural Ironman 70.3 Philippines event in Cam Sur. It was a remarkable event and we had a wonderful time. I have uploaded some photos from the trip into my media photo gallery on the site here. Check them out!

The Kona build

August 06, 2009

Well it is 10 weeks now until Kona and my training has started to ramp up a bit. I have been back home in Sydney and just starting to log up some good miles and build consistency into my weekly program. The weather here has been amazing, and more than anything I am glad I came home after my European racing season, and recovered at sea level. The last couple of years I was returning to Boulder Colorado ,and to high altitude, and my recovery definately took much longer. I feel amazing right now, and my power numbers are right up. The sea level break was a great decision and my team made the right choice here.

Foundations and Support:

I got lots of emails from people through the site over the last 10 days and one of the common themes was -  What do Chris and I like to do outside of Triathlon. I have decided to spend my next three blogs on this topic and for this blog I really saw this as a great opportunity to discuss many of the people we associate with and support. In particular I saw it as a great opportunity to highlight the foundations we work with.

Singapore Training Camp - Presented by MaccaX and BPM

Singapore Training Camp

July 21, 2009

Well it has been a busy 2 weeks since Ironman Frankfurt and my structured training begins now as I head home to Australia. The last 5 days I have been based here in Singapore on a training camp with 18 athletes from Asia. It has been a real buzz and our inaugural MaccaX Training camp in Asia. It will most definately not be the last, as the demand for information up here skyrockets and more and more people discover the lifestyle that is triathlon. Ironman 70.3 events are starting all over Asia to meet the demand, and this added to the already high number of marque Olympic distance races have created a solid circuit of events that run from China to Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia. It is amazing.

EMMA'S CORNER - Together Again

July 14, 2009

Well it seemed like and eternity but after 7 weeks we are all together again. I was hoping to upload a picture of all of us together at our home in Sydney, but the weather here has been terrible and just getting a chance to have the kids stop for 1 minute to pose for a photo was a near impossible task. They are going absolutely beserk with dad home, as you can imagine. I will make sure to post some pictures of all of us in my next blog. I need to get my camera out a little more now and snap some photos for this blog.

Ironman European Championships -

July 08, 2009

Well it's over again and the biggest Ironman race in the World (outside of Kona) has a new champion in Timo Bracht. I was hoping to get a blog up directly after the race but I never want to miss the midnight party at any Ironman race and celebrated with the athletes coming in until the early morning hours. It was a great event again and for those of you who competed well done. I met many people after the race and as you all said, "WOW". For those of you who have never raced in Frankfurt, it is just amazing. The course is tough, the crowds are huge and the event finishes in the city centre of one of Europe's biggest banking hubs. It is mind blowing.

Europe Training and Taper Time

June 28, 2009

Well it has been a while since my last blog. I have been locked down in heavy training here in Germany and preparing for Ironman Frankfurt. We are now 7 days out and all is great. The weather here has been pretty average so training has not been the most enjoyable time, but the work has been done and now it is time to back things off a little and relax. The preparation this year has been different than years past as my focus on volume has been less and we have looked at staying fresh, racing as much as possible and focusing on aerobic endurance. I feel great and am sure the post Frankfurt Ironman training will be much easier to absorb. Hawaii is just around the corner and I think about this everyday. We have our plan in place and this is our only focus.

Hi Everyone. Just a quick blog this time around. Things have been crazy since I last wrote. With winter well and truly arrived here in Sydney, the rain and the cold has kept us inside a lot. Sydney has had so much rain it has been crazy. With two kids at home when it is raining it is tough keeping them occupied. We have managed but it has been tough
