Tour Of California
June 01, 2010Well its not everyday you get to race the Worlds best cyclists, so when the offer was put to me I jumped at the opportunity. To be honest, it was not the opportunity to race the best bike riders in the World that excited me, it was the chance to rip it up on the streets of LA, on closed roads with thousands of spectators that I thought would be the coolest.

Love a Triathletes life - Tour of California, European Championships and Family
May 17, 2010Well to be honest I have not posted a blog in the last few weeks as I have been absolutely run ragged on my www.facebook.com/maccalive site. I have had a few competitions on my site and have given away a few wetsuits, some sponsor product and even some saddles from Specialized. I thoroughly enjoy interacting with all the amazing people that do our sport, and have enjoyed talking with so many people. This has given me the desire to rebuild my website here and make it a much more interactive experience for everyone. I have found athlete websites to be so bland and boring and often find that people don't get a real perception of the athlete. as a person.
A Hectic 6-Weeks but Super Productive

Well the early part of any of my seasons is always super busy, but this year more than ever we had a heavily booked schedule. I will be honest, I thoroughly enjoy the travel and the sponsorship commitments. It is great getting out and meeting so many wonderful people and living the lifestyle that is pretty cool. The thing that is tough about the travel is trying to mix training into a schedule that is packed with photo shoots, meetings, flights, filming, Presentations, Talks and dinners. At times it can be super tough but you manage to find some break in the turmoil by returning to something you love, working out!

Well for those of you who follow my twitter (@chrisjmacca ) or are fans on my facebook page, you will be aware of my hectic last few weeks. I am actually writing this blog somewhere over the Pacific Ocean, between Hawaii and Los Angeles. I am heading back to LA after spending 8 days on the big Island of Hawaii training and racing.
Singapore Spin For Life - What a Great night

Down and Out in China - Off To Singapore Now
March 14, 2010Well I am in Haikou China, sitting in my hotel room and the Ironman is still racing. I am pretty bummed but to be honest it was a big ask in the end. I picked up a little stomach bug about 36 hours ago, and have been on or near a toilet ever since. I felt pretty good waking up this morning and decided I would make my mind up out on the course. I had come such a long way and it is always difficult to not start one of these events, when you have done so much work to prepare for them. As you know with Stomach bugs you don't really feel that sick, and as I was in taper mode I was really putting any huge demands on myself physically, so I just hoped I would feel ok race day.
You Gotta Love It
March 08, 2010I wont lie, but had someone told me 12 months ago that I would be returning to China to compete in the Ironman I would have laughed at them. Actually it was only 11 months ago, but I did the Ironman 70.3 race last year in China, in what was without question the toughest day in the history of the sport. The conditions were ridiculously hot, and I was lucky to make the finish line in China. I ended up winning the race, but as I crossed the line, I dived straight into an ice bath, looked up at the thermometer that was situated in the shade and read 48 degrees celcius. For the Americans that is 120 degrees, and the humidity was incredible. I called for the medics and told them they had to get people out there as these conditions were just inhumane.
It's a Long Way to the Top

Ok I thought that might look like a strange heading for a blog, but after ripping my ears out at the AC/DC concert two nights ago, the old classic song has been running through my head. I have to say, for a band that has been pumping out hits since the early 70’s, AC/DC put on a stellar show. Lead guitarist Angus young still holds the audience captivated and front man, Brian Johnston still screams with the best of them. Angus has aged since I first saw the band in 1985 (now I am showing my age) and again in 1991, but I tell you what, they rocked hard. It was a great night and really entertaining. I had a ball after a solid weeks training. It was great to unwind and enjoy some legends of rock perform. Great stuff.
Enjoy Your Journey
February 24, 2010Ok, so this is not really a flat out blog. As with my last blog I have cheated a little bit and uploaded a magazine piece I recently wrote for one of the major Triathlon magazines in the USA. I was asked where my competitive drive came from and why I was so vocal about what I wanted to achieve in this sport. When speaking with the editor of the magazine they actually said, "Macca, to be honest your probably the most colorful interview we ever do with an athlete, you are a interviewers dream as you never know quite what your going to get. I mean that in a positive way, but where does this fire come from."
