I am back in Kona after a great two weeks with my family in LA. I have uploaded a few photos on my site from some of the training sessions we got done in LA through the Canyons north of Santa Monica. It was awesome. I managed to get a lot of the heavy ride work done with the Suisse Boys who were staying in Westlake. Ronnie finished 4th last year in Kona and was actually only 45 seconds slower than the winner on land. He lost the race last year in the swim, so when it comes to bike and run, he is definately one of the best in the World. Ronnie was great to wrk out with, and his mates where solid boys aswell.
Coming home from training and spending time with the girls was absolutely unreal. I flew my massage therapist up from Australia and spent two weeks working out the muscles from the heavy block we did in Kona. I really responded well from all the work and have to say to Dave, thanks very much for all the hard work. It was painful, but well worth it. I feel amazing right now.
I am back in Hawaii, and we are sitting 12 days out now from the World Championships. All the hard work has been done and now it is a matter of just staying fresh and feeling fast and revived. I will do some motorpace bike sets, and some shorter faster runs and really focus now on recovery. I am really ecited about this years event. I cant wait to race and am counting down the days. It is going to be great fun.
This year I have met so many people who are new to the sport and are enjoying everything about triathlon. It has been so great to listen to their stories and I must admit I have been really inspired and motivated by them. I just feel so lucky to be able to race this sport, and to compete in Kona and being a part of this sport. My family is around this sport and the event in Malibu, with my girls was so much fun. The Ironman in Hawaii is the biggest event in our sport, and I enjoy doing well here. I am going to race this event to win, and I look forward to swapping war stories with all the people who are racing here. I just love this element of the sport more than anything. The poeple in our sport are what make it so great.
Anyway for those following my twitter, you would have seen a few of the videos we have uploaded. I will run a few more of them up on my site over the next few days. I will write a couple more times before the race. I am off for a run now with Tim Marr along Alii Drive and really wanted to drop a blog down before I left. For those following me on twitter, I do read all your responses so thanks for the messages. Check out my new photos, and I will snap some shots from around town and upload them from this week.
Safe training everyone,
Macca
