Emma's Corner - Christmas Time

Hi Everyone,

Hope everyone is well and staying healthy. It is getting towards that time of year when it gets busy and hectic. In Australia we are moving towards summer and school holidays. Busy times ahead but very enjoyable. Can you believe that Christmas is only 7 weeks away? It is crazy.

Chris had to head back to the USA for a few weeks to wrap things up for the end of the year about 2 weeks ago, and will be gone for about a month. It is really busy times for him at this time of year, as he works closely with a lot of his sponsors in product development, advertising campaigns and planning for the following season. I felt sorry for Chris this time around, as he was only back in Australia for 10 days and then had to fly back. We have just had our house redone here in Sydney, and the weather at this time of year is great. I could see Chris was really enjoying being home and settling back into the Australian swing of things, and then had to jump back on a plane and fly off again. He is very good at holding good spirits about things, and never complains, but I did feel sad for him this time around. The long flight, the month away. It was tough.

Tahlia is loving school each day and has made a great group of friends she just loves to play with. Tahlia also started Nippers this year at Cronulla Beach, and she just loves it. For those of you not from Australia, Nippers is what many young kids in Australia do during the summers. It is all beach awareness and surf skills that are done at the beach. Kids from the ages of 5 all the way up to 18, compete in events that are all centred around surf lifesaving, the beach and having fun. Chris grew up in the Surf Clubs of Cronulla beach and most young kids join Nippers in the summer. She has so many friends doing it with her. They get to learn all about the beach and water and most of all just have so much fun. They had  a disco the other week Tahlia and a few of her friends didn't leave the dance floor. I think we are in for it when she is older.  I guess we are so Lucky here in Australia that our kids can have such a fun and useful hobby with nippers it is just great for them.. The beach Culture is so much fun and Tahlia is so much like her dad in that respect. She just cannot get enough of the beach.

Sienna is growing up so fast is scares me. She seems to think she is going to Big School next year with Tahlia the poor thing has 2 more years to wait. It is very cute though. She will start dancing with Tahlia next year so she has that to look forward to. Sienna just adores her older sister Tahlia, and tries to do and be everything she is. It can lead to some big fights in our household, but other times is just so nice and cute. The girls have their moments as all families do, but overall they are very good together and are loving life at the moment.

So with Christmas just around the corner, we are getting ready to spend time with family and friends. I just love this time of year. The kids get so excited and having a warm Christmas day is alot of fun. We will spend the morning with family then have friends over for a bbq and swim. For Australians christmas means beach and sun. It is funny to see the rest of the World in the snow. For me Christmas is seafood, salads, bikinis and beaches. Spending some time in the USA in previous years at this time of year, it was definitely a different feel. Christmas is about family, all around the world, but the way it is celebrated is so different in the sense that we are so much more outdoors at this time of year because it is our summer. Christmas also means Tahlia and Sienna have all there end of year concerts for school and kindy and Chris and i are so excited to go and see them. So the next 6 or more weeks will be busy busy. It seems like this year has gone so fast. It is great to sit back a reflect on the year and how it all went.

So Chris will be back home in 10 days and we are very excited. The girls want to surprise him and do the house up as a welcome home party ( not such a surprise now) But Chris will go along with it i am sure. The girls have a list long of things they want to do with daddy. First on that list is to go camping. I will admit i am not a camper so this will be a perfect time for Chris and the girls to just hang out and spend quality time. Most of the time this means setting up a tent in the backyard and staying the night outside. It is a lot of fun and they love it. We are just all looking forward to daddy coming home. So until I write next time, I hope everyone has a great Christmas and holiday break.

Stay safe and well
