I wont lie, but had someone told me 12 months ago that I would be returning to China to compete in the Ironman I would have laughed at them. Actually it was only 11 months ago, but I did the Ironman 70.3 race last year in China, in what was without question the toughest day in the history of the sport. The conditions were ridiculously hot, and I was lucky to make the finish line in China. I ended up winning the race, but as I crossed the line, I dived straight into an ice bath, looked up at the thermometer that was situated in the shade and read 48 degrees celcius. For the Americans that is 120 degrees, and the humidity was incredible. I called for the medics and told them they had to get people out there as these conditions were just inhumane.

March 08, 2010MaccaNow and Fitness First Singapore - Join forces for Breast Cancer
February 27, 2010Chris McCormack along with BPM Sports and Andrew Tierney from Fitness First Singapore have put together a 90 minute spin class, followed by a 45 minute Question and answer session at Fitness First in Singapore on March 16, 2010.
After spending some time in Singapore a few weeks ago, Macca linked up with Andrew Tierney, and along with BPMSports were looking at ways to raise money for the two charities that Macca is aligned with. MaccaNow is the foundation set up by Chris McCormack that aims to donate 1 million dollars to Breast Cancer and Challenged Athletes by 2012. Since beginning in 2008, the foundation has raised more than 200 000 dollars for Cancer, and has now given itself the aim of hitting 1 million dollars within 2 years.

Ok I thought that might look like a strange heading for a blog, but after ripping my ears out at the AC/DC concert two nights ago, the old classic song has been running through my head. I have to say, for a band that has been pumping out hits since the early 70’s, AC/DC put on a stellar show. Lead guitarist Angus young still holds the audience captivated and front man, Brian Johnston still screams with the best of them. Angus has aged since I first saw the band in 1985 (now I am showing my age) and again in 1991, but I tell you what, they rocked hard. It was a great night and really entertaining. I had a ball after a solid weeks training. It was great to unwind and enjoy some legends of rock perform. Great stuff.
Enjoy Your Journey
February 24, 2010Ok, so this is not really a flat out blog. As with my last blog I have cheated a little bit and uploaded a magazine piece I recently wrote for one of the major Triathlon magazines in the USA. I was asked where my competitive drive came from and why I was so vocal about what I wanted to achieve in this sport. When speaking with the editor of the magazine they actually said, "Macca, to be honest your probably the most colorful interview we ever do with an athlete, you are a interviewers dream as you never know quite what your going to get. I mean that in a positive way, but where does this fire come from."

Triathlon is infectious! It really is that simple. Actually I think what is infectious about our sport, is positive energy and just plane positivity. The word, lifestyle, gets tossed around a fair bit nowadays as people are looking for other ways to get the most out of their lives while they have it, but Triathlon is positive lifestyle.

Australia Day Weekend Training Camps - Macca and Pete Jacobs
December 04, 2009January has to be the best month in Australia for training, and for those athletes preparing for Ironman Australia, Ironman 70.3 Geelong or the Australian Long Course Championships, it is a critical month of work. I am doing a big block of training this year as I intend to race in Ironman China in March, and will use the Australian season events to prepare for this. I will be on the same training program I used to execute for Ironman Australia for the 5 years I won this event.
A Whirlwind month and more to come
November 27, 2009I think I start every blog by saying I intend to write a lot more, but these past 4 weeks have been incredibly busy. I am finally back in Sydney and have time to take a breather and sit down and write a blog. I am home for 10 days before I fly up to Monaco for a presentation dinner with the Formula 1 boys on December 11. That will be a quick trip but a lot of fun. As a F1 fan, I am looking forward to talking cars and racing with the boys. I will be home in Sydney after that and back to some solid training and consistency to kick off the new season. I am looking forward to it.
